Somatic Restorative Therapy
A gentle, body-based approach to emotional regulation, grounding, and inner restoration.
What Somatic Restorative Therapy Is
Somatic Restorative Therapy integrates therapeutic conversation with restorative yoga postures, mindful breathwork, and nervous system regulation practices. It supports healing through the body — helping you soften tension, unwind emotional stress, and reconnect with a sense of internal safety.
Where talk therapy engages the mind, somatic restorative work helps you tune into the wisdom of the body — releasing tension and patterns held in your muscles, breath, and nervous system.
This is a deeply calming and supportive approach for anyone who feels overwhelmed, disconnected from the body, or caught in habitual stress or trauma responses.
Why People Seek Somatic Therapy
Many people turn to body-based therapy when they notice that stress or emotional pain is held not just in the mind, but in the body. Common signs include:
Nervous System Dysregulation
- Feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or “stuck on high alert”, unable to rest
- Difficulty calming down or resting
- Emotional shutdown, numbness, or disconnection
Stress, Burnout & Emotional Exhaustion
- Persistent tension in the body e.g. tightness in the chest, shallow breathing
- Feeling depleted from overworking or caregiving
- Difficulty unwinding after intense days, constant restlessness
Trauma & Habitual Patterns
- Trauma responses that feel automatic or hard to shift
- Patterns such as freeze response, dissociation, people-pleasing, or hypervigilance
- Wanting to experience safety and grounding in the body
Somatic therapy with Scarlette
My somatic restorative work is shaped by my background as a long-term yoga practitioner, certified yoga teacher, and trained restorative yoga teacher. I deeply value the mind–body connection — recognising that emotional healing is supported when our bodies feel safe, settled, and grounded.
In somatic restorative therapy, I integrate:
• Restorative yoga postures supported by bolsters, blocks, and blankets
• Therapeutic breathwork to calm the nervous system
• Body-based awareness to notice sensations, tension, and emotional cues
• Trauma-informed pacing to support safety and choice
• Mindfulness and grounding practices
• Gentle therapeutic dialogue to integrate bodily experiences with emotional meaning
This approach honours your body’s natural capacity to heal and supports the unwinding of habitual stress or trauma responses held within the nervous system.
Sessions are slow, gentle, and deeply supportive — offering a sanctuary for rest and emotional recalibration. All practices are offered at a pace that supports safety, regulation, and choice — you remain in full control of your experience at all times.
What to Expect
• A warm, quiet space with mats, bolsters, blankets, and props
• Supported restorative postures designed for deep rest and nervous system release
• Guidance in noticing sensations, breath, and internal cues
• Gentle invitations to explore emotions that arise through the body

Somatic restorative therapy is not about performance, stretching, or “doing more.”
It is about slowing down, softening, and allowing the body to lead.
Reaching out for support is a meaningful step toward embodied healing. Somatic restorative therapy offers a gentle path to grounding, emotional regulation, and reconnecting with yourself from the inside out.
